In Solapur district's Akkalkot, under a great banyan tree, rests Shri Swami Samarth (Mahasamadhi 1878) — revered across Maharashtra as a living manifestation of Lord Dattatreya. For twenty-two years he walked these streets, speaking little, healing many, and leaving one immortal assurance: 'Fear not, I am behind you.' His Vatavruksha Samadhi Math remains the beating heart of the Datta sampradaya in Maharashtra.
