Uttaravahini Ganga Ghats · Ahilyabai Rebuilt · Varanasi · Uttar Pradesh
The eternal city of light where the river flows north toward its source.
Along the sacred northward bend (Uttaravahini) of the Ganga, Kashi Vishwanath is the eternal Jyotirlinga rebuilt in red sandstone by Rani Ahilyabai Holkar in 1780. Narrow cooling galis lead from breezy river ghats to the sanctum.
The river turns north to meet the morning sun — knowledge shared openly on the stone steps.
This sacred sanctuary unfolds through its kathas and rituals.
